You may have heard that some exciting plans have been announced for the future of cycling in Cardiff. Cardiff Cycle City will be actively campaigning to make sure we get the best deal we can for people who ride bikes in our city.
January Meeting
Our January meeting will be on our new regular date of the last Thursday of each month – January 30th (but we will sometimes need to vary the date – see below). We’ve agreed that we’ll alternate business meetings with special events and speakers. This month is a business meeting and we will be continuing our work on our new manifesto. Everybody is welcome to join in! As usual, we are meeting in the fabulous Ride my Bike Cafe, on Park Place starting at 6.00pm and aiming to finish at 8.00pm.
Cardiff Council’s Transport White Paper
You may well have seen something in the media about this because of all the hype about a possible congestion charge. But there’s also lots of stuff about the future of cycling in Cardiff. It’s well worth a read. You can access it here.
Bike Life Cardiff 2020
We’re moving the date of our February meeting to accommodate a very special event. Cardiff Cycle City is delighted to be working with Sustrans to launch their latest report on cycling in our city: Bike Life Cardiff 2020. Come along to the event to hear about the progress made and what people in Cardiff think about making our city a cycling city.
As well as getting the latest report there’ll be an opportunity to debate and discuss with some special guests.
Bike Life is inspired by the Copenhagen Bicycle Account, and is an assessment of city cycling development including infrastructure, travel behaviour, satisfaction, the impact of cycling, and new initiatives.
This is the third report from Cardiff following on from the original report published in 2015. The information in this report comes from local cycling data, modelling and a representative survey of Cardiff residents.
Cardiff is one of 14 cities across the UK with which Sustrans, the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle, is collaborating to report on progress towards making cycling an attractive and everyday means of travel.
You can find more information on earlier Bike Life Reports here.
The launch will take place at 6.00pm on Thursday March 5th in Ride my Bike Cafe, It’s going to be a very popular event so get your ticket here.
